The Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias in Spain recently underwent an ambitious expansion project led by architect Francisco Mangado. The new extension, which can be seen from the outside through the openings of the historical facades, occupies space previously belonging to five other buildings. It is organised around a series of floors, with a programme focused on addressing the needs of a fast-growing museum. With many splendid images and architectural drawings, this book documents the new zones for storing works, services, and temporary exhibitions that have been created, as well as new spaces for the permanent collection. Includes a text by the architect.
